Spectral Tablature is a series of collaborative installations that explore sound deconstructed through visual processes. Synthetic Skyline is a new audiovisual composition in the series that uses analog synthesis as the source material and design aesthetics as the visual process. [ swipe to continue ]
In the unaltered spectral analysis horizontal lines represent the sustained, synthesized frequencies. The lines become jagged in the sections where vibrato is applied to the waveforms through the use of a low frequency oscillator or LFO. [ swipe to continue ]
Collaborator Jasio Stefanski’s interpretation deconstructs the sound using simplified lines and colors. Converted back into sound, the dynamics and timbre are transformed while the frequencies and temporal content match the original. [ swipe to continue ]
